Responsibilities

  • To perform development activities using OSS technologies to develop in-demand and viable solutions for various vertical industries.
  • Responsible for functional analysis, information gathering & design.
  • Develop module specifications during product/solution development life-cycle.
  • Participate in unit and system testing during product/solution development life-cycle.
  • To work with R&D engineers in OSS product/solution planning, design & development life-cycle.
  • To technically manage application development projects.
  • To provide post-development product support and develop appropriate bug fixes.
  • To produce product documentation and user manual.
  • To conduct transfer of technology (TOT) on finished products to technical support team.
  • To conduct product training and/or workshop when required.
  • Knowledge in CMS such as Drupal will be added advantage.

Requirements

  • Degree/Advanced Diploma/Diploma or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of related industry experience in R&D or application development role.
  • Strong experience in system analysis, database analysis and software development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity in OSS software development tools such as SubVersion, Bluefish, Eclipse, Screem, etc.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity in software development technologies that would be relevant for OSS product development, in the following:
  • Web Services, SOA
  • PHP, Python, CakePHP framework, Joomla!, Plone
  • Web 2.0, XML, Wiki, AJAX, CSS, RSS
  • C language, shell script
  • Able to work using Ubuntu Linux desktop.
  • Knowledge in web design and OSS technologies such as Linux, MySQL, PostgreSQL, OpenOffice, security solutions, web servers, and others will be a strong advantage.
  • Possession of accredited OSS certifications such as Certified MySQL Developer (CMDEV), PHP 5 Certification, LPI, etc will be advantageous.Must be well-organized, independent, take initiatives, detailed and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent project management, communication, writing, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Malaysia citizen only.
